appservd - this process runs and consumes 100% of cpu

We are on a SUN applications server running 5.3sp3 webtop. About once a week Documentum locks up, we go on to the applications server and sure enough the process appservd owned by http is consuming 100% of the cpu. We have to restart the applications server - then everything is normal. How can we prevent it from happening ?
