Dell SMCli
Hi all,
I hope one of the Dell technicians on here are able to help, I'm monitoring one of our Dell Storage appliances a Dell MD3600f through SMcli, and I'm checking the Storage array health status = optimal.
But what I wanted to ask what exactly does optimal means what sensors is it checking, obviously the disks but if a fibre channel fails would that also change the status?
Many thanks.

Trevrobwhite,
When the status shows as optimal it is pertaining to a few different things. It checks the status of the disks to ensure they are online, the Raid Controller Module to make sure it is running as it should and everything is using the preferred path. It will also monitor the Control panel, Power Supply, Cooling fans etc. It keeps an eye on the overall health of the storage array and any time something gets degraded or fails that status will reflect those changes. If one of the channels fail on the array it would also be seen here as well.
