Can't image Optiplex 5040 with Lite-On NVMe HDD - Windows 7 using SCCM

Hopefully, this is the right place to post this.

I'm having a hard time imaging Windows 7 on these Optiplex 5040's that come with the Lite-On NVMe HDD's using SCCM.

Here is what I have done already.

1. Inject KB2990941 and KB3087873 into my wim file
2. Add the Intel Chipset RAID/AHCI Controllers version 14.5.2.1088 from the WinPE 10 Cab off Dell into my boot image.
3. Tried imaging using Legacy/MBR.
4. Tried imaging using UEFI/GPT.
5. Tried RAID and AHCI.

The issue is that after downloading the image rebooting to start configuring Windows, Windows 7 at the logo screen locks up and reboots.

I am thinking this is a driver related problem with the 5040 cab file. If I do not install model-specific drivers for the machine, at least I am able to get into Windows and logon locally, but the imaging process does not complete because there are no network drivers. Unfortunately, there hasn't been an updated driver package since May.

Has anyone experienced this?

Yes, remove both the Intel USB 3.0 drivers from your driver package. I've tried adding the latest into my driver package and it still fails, but they can be installed after the fact your image is completed.

Yes I am using SCCM.

If you are sure you have done all of these, then I don't really know why it isn't working for you.

  1. Did you inject KB2990941 & KB3087873 into your windows wim file?
  2. Did you add the Intel 8 Series/C220 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller and Intel Chipset SATA RAID Controller into your boot wim? You can get these from the Windows 10 PE CAB.
  3. Remove the Intel 3.0 USB drivers from the driver package. Did you update distribution after doing this? Intel(R) USB 3.0 Hub & Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller

We experience the same problem here. Any solutions yet?

Have tried with different drivers from toshiba or OCZ site.

Seems that the problem disk is  THNSN5256GPUK.

Are you using the latest driver package from dell site? (en.community.dell.com/.../11659.optiplex-5040-windows-7-driver-pack)

I tried suggested solution (exclude USB 3.0 drivers) but with no succes.

Are you using sccm for imaging?

Same thing here. Funny the THNSN5256GPU7  works fine. Our new Dells have the THNSN5256GPUK.  They changed something with the PUK  model. It is one model different *** did they do.
