PowerEdge 2950 Gen III with a bad raid drive and dead battery.

I have a 6 1Tb drives in this system with a PERC 5i controller creating two "3 drive raid 5" arrays.  One of the drives is flashing yellow and I have received a new old drive to replace it.

At the same time I see this message in dmesg.

[   25.303516] megaraid_sas 0000:02:0e.0: 28624 (558589124s/0x0008/FATAL) - Battery needs replacement - SOH Bad

I actually have a new battery ready to install if I really need it.

What is the proper way to complete the needed repairs?

Hi,

Thank you for contacting the dedicated Out of Warranty forum for PowerEdge products. We have sent you a private message on the forum in order to get the Service Tag of your PowerEdge Server.

Kind Regards,

Unfortunately Dell has refused to answer this question due to an unknown issue.  I will never buy another old Dell server because of this.  BUYER BEWARE!
