DiskXtender Original and copy media question

I have 2 pieces of doubel sided media that were once copy/original but they have different data on them.

My challenge is to recover the full files on both pieces of media (both sides) back to the extended drive.

Then I need to clear the stub file references.

I then want to move the files back to NEW media labeled the same name as what the original was labeled (IND-35A and IND-35B).

My plan is below and I need to know if I'm missing any steps that will prevent me from accomplishing this data recovery.

1.     Move all media out of the move group to prevent restored files from being moved to new media

2.     Do a file restore and then a compaction of the media currently in the Jukebox and associated with the extended drive.

3.     Deallocate media in DX Admin

4.     Remove media from application pool in MediaStor

5.     Eject media from Jukebox

6.     Insert second piece of media into Jukebox

7.     Allocate to media pool in MediStor

8.     Allocate media in DX Admin

9.     Do a file restore and then a compaction of this media

10.   Remove media from DX, MS, Juke

11.   Insert NEW Blank Media into Juke

12.   Allocate NEW balnk media to media pool

13.   Use prep mgr to label media "IND-35A and IND-35B" and assign to media folder

14.   Move this disk into the move group

15.   force drive scan to move compacted  files back to media

I need to know how to edit the registry so that it will allow me to label media to a previous number than what has last been labeled. i.e. I have already labeled IND-36 and IND-37 so when I go to label new media it won't let me go back to a previous IND- file name.

I saw something in the HKLM\Software\Legato hive last week that made me think I could edit the string to allow me to go back in my naming sequence but I can't find it this morning.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

If anyone comes across this post, I was able to complete the tasks outlined and initial tests indicate that I was successful in recovering the data from the 2 different pieces of media.

I didn't find the registry setting for the next sequential naming convention so I just went on with the next in line and will have a gap in my disks ( I won't have the 35A and B) in the library.

There is probably an easier and faster way to accomplish this. If I had the dxcheck utility, it might have done exactly what I accomplished with the restore/compact.

This took a full day and a half to accomplish so it's not a quick turnaround for sure.
