would this work?
i have an xps8500 and 3 spare video card slots would it hurt if i add 1 more card?

XPS 8500 has only on PCIe X16 slot on which you can install a discrete video card. The following video cards are tested by Dell with this system:

It seems there's one PCI-e x16 slot (for higher end video cards or insane enterprise hardware) and three PCI-e x1 slots in the XPS 8500. Technically speaking, you should be able to install a low-end PCI-e x1 video card into the slot, but it won't be a very great card, really only good for displaying web pages and such on another monitor.
