This does not appear to be a Dell BIOS for this system. If you got the BIOS from another source you should make sure that it is the right version for this system. You should get the instructions for the use of this file from the provider. If you download the BIOS flash from Dell the site also has instructions for use. Note that use of non Dell BIOS can cause problems with the software that came with the system as well as prevent the use of other Dell updates.
1) Ensure that the following files are all in the same directory: MK_BOOT.BAT COMMAND.COM DOS.SYS INSTBOOT.EXE FORMAT.COM 2) Place a blank diskette in drive a: 3) At the command line prompt in the above directory, type MK_BOOT. 4) Follow the prompts. 5) The diskette should now contain the files: COMMAND.COM and DOS.SYS.
I don't know how to find the command line prompt in step 3

Thanks for the reply.
I've been following robert hancock's link for upgrading my Intel AL440LX motherboard. http://roberthancock.com/dell/xpsdproc.htm
I purchased the powerleap PL-ip3/t upgrade and need to update my bios.
I've read I need bios p14 in one place and p12 in another.
Please help.
