System Restore and Windows Media Player Problems

I downloaded an upgrade to my windows media player on my Dell 4100 computer.  Now I can't use my Windows Media Player, it gives says an internal application error has occurred.  Then I thought I would use my System Restore to undo these changes and there is no system restore date to change it back to.  Everything was working fine before I did an upgrade to my media player.  Can someone give me an idea as to what has happened here???

Thanks.

First off... I have found the system restore to be completely... 100% useless.  It is a hog for space and does not fix a dang thing.  Turn it off.  Instead, once you have a good solid system again, try using Norton's Ghost.  I just did a complete Image Swap from Ghost yesterday after contracting a worm virus that slowed (almost halted) my system.

As for your Windows Media Player.  Try downloading the full install of the program, not the upgrade.  The new version of Windows update is somewhat disasterous if the install has a glitch, or if you lose an internet connection... or something of that sort.  You can get Windows Media Player 9 at this link: http://windowsmedia.com/9series/download/download.asp

Hope this helps
