Replace Hard Drive Do to Error code: 146
My service tag number is . I received two error codes on it. The first error code was File/Boot/BCD Error code OXC00000e9. This code states it could be caused by disconnecting peripheral devices improperly. I disconnected all peripheral devices then restarted the computer then run a BIOS check.
I then received error code 0146 which indicates a failed or failing hard drive. I purchase a new upgraded hard drive and installed it.and I get nothing except for the beep sound and I hear it running but see nothing on the screen except for the Power Save Mode message on the monitor. New hard drive is installed correctly and all devices have been disconnected.
Is it possible the new hard drive I purchase is defective?

Hi gdhick,
Thank you for writing to Dell Community Forum.
Error code 0146, also indicates an issue with the operating system image i.e. multiple error's have occurred. Re-installing the operating system sometimes works. Please re-install the operating system and check if the system boots.
Please click my DELL-username and send me a Private Message with the Dell Service Tag number and your email address so that we can check this further for you.

Did you format the new HDD and install Windows on it? And did you connect the new drive to the SATA0 port where the original drive was connected to the motherboard? Is the old drive still connected too?
You may also have to clear BIOS with the new drive connected to SATA0 to make sure BIOS recognizes the new drive. Then boot from either a bootable USB stick or DVD and install Windows on the new drive.
