Raid and IDE?
Can you run a serial ATA drive as a IDE?
Can I run a serial ATA drive and use it as a regular drive, not a backup? Do I have to get a converter to make it into a IDE configuration.
Can you run both IDE and raid on the same motherboard?
Can you ghost from a IDE to a serial ATA drive?
You can see by my questions that I'm a bit confused.
Thanks,
Jerry

Hi
First question, no, they are two completly different types of hard drive interfaces.
Second question, Yes, second part, no.
Third question, Do you mean IDE and SATA ? If so, yes you can. You can have a PCI IDE controller card, plus your regular IDE
Fourth Question, yes you should be able to.

Thanks for the reply! Sorry I couldn't get back to you before.
From what I found out you are correct in 3 out of 4. They make an adapter which goes on the back of the Sata drive and has the necessary hardware to convert a sata to an IDE. It sells for about $20. They seem to make something for everything.
Thanks again ,
Jerry
