Keyboard ENTER key on number pad functioning as TAB key. Dell support cannot resolve

Boot the PC and press F12 before XP starts to load. Run hardware diagnostics on the keyboards. If that works the way you'd expect, then this is a software issue, rather than hardware.

In that case, are you sure XP is set up for the right Regional and Language settings? Open the Regional and Language settings control panel and make sure it's set to your correct location and version of (English) on every tab. On the Languages tab, you have to click the Details button and dig around using all available buttons and tabs. Some of these settings are cryptic and burried 4-5 layers deep in XP (thank you Mr. Microsoft!).

(Frankly, I wish I could get that functionality when using Excel !!)

Hi, i am having a similar problem. just bought a dell dimension 3100. it came with a wireless keyboard and mouse and these both work fine apart from the @ key which comes up with: ''
the shift key seems to work fine with all other keys just not the @ key, did you find a solution to your problem in the end?

Sounds like you need to change the Regional and Language control panel settings to your correct location.
