Inspiron 530 Motherboard?

Hi, I need to know what type of motherboard my Inspiron 530 has.

 

Anyone know?

It's a Dell Inspiron 530 motherboard.

 

It's OEM. There may be a retail version that comes close, but there would be enough differences that make a direct swap to take some work (Dell Windows install CD/DVD wouldn't allow booting to a non-Dell board, the front panel connector is Dell-unique, so you'd have to figure out a way to interpret the pin-out and work with the cable).

The 530 systems were build with two different models of motherboards.

If your 530 was purchased with a Core 2 Duo processor and a 300w power supply, this system usually has a 0RY007 motherboard, that supports Core 2 Duo processors only.

If you have a Quad 4  processor and a 375w power supply, you have the 0FM586 motherboard.

The 0FM586 motherboard can be used for both Quad 4 & Core 2 Duo processors.

If you have the 0FM586 motherboard, the Core 2 Quad Q9550 Yorkfield 2.83GHz 12MB L2 Cache LGA 775 95W, should be compatible, providing before installing you update the BIOS to the latest version.

The G33M02 Dell Part Number:0RY007 or G33M03 Dell Part Number:FM586 Motherboard does not have a part number based on the CPU.

CPU compatability is based on the Revision of the Motherboard and the Power supply wattage.

The Inspiron 530s has a Dell FoxConn G33m02/0RY007 motherboard and only supports Core 2 Duo, Pentium Dual Core and Celeron processors.
 
Core 2 Quad processors are not supported.
 
If you decide to upgrade the processor, prior to installing the processor, check that you have BIOS Version 1.0.15, or higher, when support for new Intel CPU's was added.

Dell Inspirons shipped with 1 of 2 different motherboards, both made by Foxcroft, and both quite similar.

Released on June 26, 2006, the Dell Inspiron 530 is Dell's first desktop to use the Inspiron name. The Inspiron 530 has an Intel Celeron 450, and can be customized up to an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550. It has 2 GB of DDR2 SDRAM at 800 MHz, which can be upgraded up to 8 GB (4gb for systems shipped with core 2 duo processors and g33m02 motherboards, and 8gb for systems shipped with core 2 quad processors and g33m03 motherboards - noted in the system documentation.

The desktop has a 320 GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA hard drive w/DataBurst Cache, which can be upgraded to 750 GB. There are also data recovery versions of the 320 and 500 GB hard drive sizes. The Inspiron 530 is customizable with a variety of DVD+/-RW and Blu-ray Disc drives.

The Inspiron 530 has integrated Intel GMA 3100, and can be customized up to an ATI Radeon HD 4670 discrete graphics card. It has integrated 7.1 channel audio and can be customized up to a Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer sound card. The Inspiron 530 has no initial Wi-Fi card, but can be customized up to a Dell 1505 Wireless-N PCI-e card.

The Inspiron 530 has two variants of motherboards, both made by Foxconn and based on the G33M series. The G33M02 which supports up to Core 2 Duo processors and the DG33M03, which supports up to Core 2 Quad processors.

Inspiron 530 systems sold with Pentium Dual-Core or Core 2 Duo processors can not be upgraded to Core 2 Quad processors without adding at least a 350W power supply and swapping motherboards to the DG33M03 motherboard. The reason the G33M02 doesn't support Core 2 Quad processors is because it only has 6 voltage regulator ICs, the DG33M03 has 11.

FoxConn not FoxCroft.  There are more than 5 different motherboards. The Models are G33M  Rev02 and G33M  Rev03 however there are also A, B, C, D designations due to 4 ram slots vs 2 ram slots.

The 530S is the Slim Desktop Version.

I have a 530s Running 8gb of Ram (4slots) and a Radeon 7750HD Low Profile..... and Im finding alot of the time Im running out of CPU , I have Core 2 duo E6550 in it now but have been looking into running the Core 2 Quad Q9550S 65watt CPU... will this run on the older board, I dont have the one that runs quads stock or a power supply that fits my slim... if this ran in it then just a better fan or liquid cooling could be the cure to my CPU bottleneck... Just wondering what everyone here thinks or has done that might involve this combo of parts  Core 2 Quad 65watt and the  0RY007 motherboard, Or with the Intel Core Quad X3360/Q9550 2.83G from Xeon E5440 SLBBJ/SLANS +2pc Mod Adapter they sell on ebay, this is a cheaper solution but more risky, I am curious if anyone has done it..... IF not let me know if anyone is interested in someone trying it enough to help offset some of the cost of trying it on a donation board or something...... I know this is an old pc ,I know its its cheaper to build a new one, but whats the fun in that? Im trying to keep this thing running way past life just to see what can really be done SSD and HD7550 with 8gb of ram already play wow in 1080p like butter but when I run more stuff I hit the cpu bottleneck if I can crack that , Im going to bench mark it vs the orginal and see just how far it has come. This is a SS of what its got so far, but ram has just been changed to all match.

The 0RY007 motherboard has no support for any Core 2 Quad processors.

 You need the FoxConn DG33m03 motherboard, the G33m02 [Dell P/N 0RY007] and DG33m03 [Dell P/N 0FM586] are essentially identical, except for the power regulators on the motherboard.

The G33m02 is a cheaper version of the board that has only has 6 voltage regulator IC's and there are 11 voltage regulators on the DG33m03.

Plus a minimum of a 350w power supply is required for a Socket LGA775 Core 2 Quad processor.

Yes I did read that , but the Q9550S is not a high wattage Processor its a 65 watt Just like the core 2 Duo ........ it should run in theory as long as the micro code is there.  Dont mistake the Q9550 with the Q9550s, The Low TDP is the point in my question...... I realize i could upgrade the board and power supply and run a quad core but that would defeat the purpose of getting more life from this board. Thanks for your fast reply.. I know this question has not been asked before in these forums as I have tried to find anything on the web to see if anyone has tried it. But its looking more like I'm going to be the one who tries it .

   Did you ever try out the 9550S 65watt cpu? and what was the result, I am considering this for my own Inspiron 530.

   I have a Vostro 230 series which uses also uses the Foxconn g33m02 motherboard with a Intel Xeon x3370 (identical to the Q9650 series CPU) in it running fine since March 2013, with an upgraded Power supply (400 watt). I've also had to change out those [Admin NOTE: Profanity removed as per TOU] Goldstar (HL series) optical drives (which has since renamed itself to LG Electronics) - but that's another story.

   Please let me know. I've had difficulty getting the Core 2 duo E8600 (intel SLB9L) series CPU to work properly (it works but had some issues here and there) with the g33m02 motherboard in my Vostro 400 due to some stepping issue but the Core 2 duo E8500 (SLAPK) works great.

  Your input on the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550S and it's success or failure would be a great boon.

What issues did you have getting the Core 2 duo E8600 series CPU to work properly? The reason i am asking i just bought this CPU for this installation and waiting on it to get to delivered. Should i go ahead and send it back?

I had some issues with the e8600 core 2 duo where it caused windows vista/7/8 to crash. It could of been the CPU I got as it was used - but I read there were "stepping" compatibility issues with regard to the mobo in this series Dell. I currently use the Intel q9550S (core 2 quad - lower power consumption) with the g33m02 type series mobo w/ no problems.
