Dell optiplex gx280 maximum physical memory size
Hello,
I have an optiplex gx280 pc.I've just installed 4 dimms of 1GB DDR2 memory. After restarting the computer i realize that the physical memory that windows xp pro SP2 configures is 3GB of RAM.
In the Bios setup all of the 4 DIMMS of 1GB seem to be working properly. Also in the boot.in file i've added the PAE information.Could anyone tell me what is wrong and my system does not recognize all of the 4GB of RAM?

In order to maintain 32 bit windows support the PAE setup allows 3 gigs only.
2 GB (up to 3 GB with IMAGE_FILE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE and 4GT RAM Tuning)
By default, windows running the 32-bit editions of
support only 32-bit memory addressing and thus are able to access
only 4 gigabytes (GB) of physical memory. Part of the Memory Map is taken
up by BIOS and Video Cards and Interrupts etc.
