Altec Lansing ACS495 and USB setup
When I connect my ACS495's to my computer, I got a message in the windows device manager thet the speakers were not present, not connected, or not all the drivers were installed. I called altec lansing, and they said that the usb would not work with win98 se. Later, I went over to a friend's house, and he has ADA310's (they work on the same platform as the acs495's), and his are working fine on usb (he is running win98 se). I went to dell's driver page, and downloaded the drivers and audio management software for the speakers, and success!!! They work!! After that, I wanted to use the newer audio management software from altec lansing, but when I try to install it, the setup says it cannot detect the usb speakers. I went and checked everything, and it was all fine. Can someone tell me how to get the newer audio management software on my computer? Thanks.

Thank you for visiting DELLTalk. I do not have any information on software that Altec Lansing may be releasing directly (i.e. not through Dell). However, you can click here to get Dell's latest Windows 98 software for the ACS-495 speakers. For assistance installing the Dell-released software, please contact Dell Technical Support.

Notice that on the Altec Lansing download page it states:
"The downloads on this page are for Windows 98 only."
