How do I remove hard drive before donating computer?

Hi All,

So that's my question: How do I remove my hard drive before donating my computer?

I've heard that if someone wants your info they can get it, because you can't Really clean the data from the hard drive.  So I'd like to remove it.

Thanking you in advance for your help.

Hi Bev,

It's an older desktop model:  Dell Dimension 2400 series.  As far as I can tell the sides are riveted to the back.

You posted in the Dell|EMC SAN Storage section. On the Dell|EMC SANs, you can just pull the drives out the front of the disk enclosure. However, if you pull the first 5 drives on a CX-array or the first 4 drives on an AX-array, you may as well put the unit with the trash as someone else would have no purpose for it.

However, if you have a desktop or laptop computer, I'd suggest to post in the desktop or laptop section.
