how can we check/confirm if Isilon is using sentry or not from Isilon CLI or WebUI?

Hi Team,

We have a Cloudera cluster with Isilon 8.2.2. There is a plan to upgrade Cloudera CDH6.3.3 cluster to CDP717 and we have few concerns which are related to Isilon, we require your help to understand them.

There is a Sentry service installed and enabled for Hive, Impala in Cloudera Manager however it’s not enabled for Isilon service in Cloudera Manager. Question is, how can we check/confirm if Isilon is using sentry or not from Isilon CLI or WebUI?

During upgrade, Sentry will be migrated to Ranger. Do we need to perform any additional steps for Isilon in Cloudera Ranger service?

Thanks,

There shouldn’t be any issues. https://dell.to/3wCRTj0

Hi,

Thanks for your question about Isilon. Try the command isi services -l and it should list the services. Page 432 https://dell.to/3dTZJ1a Here is the upgrade guide https://dell.to/3crz4IW

Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Hi Josh,

I appreciate your help. I used "isi services -l & -a" however there is no sentry listed in output so I assume its not being used.

We are upgrading CDH6 to CDP717, current cdh6 cluster is using sentry and I couldn't find sentry in Isilon and during upgrade sentry will be migrated to Ranger. Do you think if there will any impact on Isilon hdfs after enabling ranger?

Thanks
