One Way Conversations in DMC Text Messages

I have a Dell XPS 15 9510 (2021) with DMC 3.3 and Win 10 and an iPhone 11 Pro Max with iOS 14.6.

Why would DMC only show my outgoing text messages and don't show the other person's responses?  I have my phone right next to the laptop and the Messages app on the phone is showing both sides of the conversation.

(This would sometimes happen in a conversation I'm having with someone, but not on another conversation I'm also having with a different person in a separate text.)
