DDPE_64bit_setup.exe V10.5 and Windows 10

Hi,

I'm trying to install Dell Security by running DDPE_64bit_setup.exe V10.5 on a Windows 10 version 1909.

I'm using the same script I used for all my windows machines so far, with Windows version prior to 1909.

But for some reason it didn't work as I expect. Where I run the client, it behaves as it doesn't know my server.

Here is the command line i use:

DDPE_64bit_setup10.5.exe /s /v"SERVERMODE=1 SERVERHOSTNAME=myserver.mydomain POLICYPROXYHOSTNAME=myserver.mydomain MANAGEDDOMAIN=mydomain DEVICESERVERURL=https://myserver.mydomain:8443/xapi/ HIDEOVERLAYICONS=1 REBOOT=ReallySuppress /l*v c:\temp\ShieldInstall.log /qb!"

In the registry I have some variables GK or Server with the value equal to 199.199.199.199.

Here they are :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Dell\Dell Data Protection\Encryption\RegCache\WinLogon\CmgShield\

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Dell\Dell Data Protection\Encryption\RegCache\WinLogon\CmgShield\Servlet
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\CMGShield
GK Server
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\CMGShield\Servlet
Ordinateur\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\DellMgmtAgent\Parameters

if I change manually theses values with the IP address of my server, and then reboot the machine, it works fine.

What can I do to install the client part properly without the need of editing the registry ?

Thanks for your help.

Hi @BigJoe58,

I reviewed your command line against our documentation and I am not seeing anything incorrect with it.  Are you throwing this information into a batch file, running it via run or cmd, or do you have a packaging application trying to distribute it?

I've been working to stage an environment to attempt to reproduce the issue but building a 1909 image has been a bit slow for me.  I should be ready to go with that testing tomorrow.

Usually when we see the 199 server information put in something isn't being passed correctly to the installer.  If that helps you out any.  Hopefully I can reproduce without issue tomorrow once my image is ready.

Thanks!

Hey @BigJoe58 ,

So I ran through some test today and the only way I can get the example switches you provided to fail is if the folder for the log file doesn't exist on the drive.  Other than that the client installs without issue.

I do want to ask about the SERVERMODE=1 switch.  Have you always used that switch?  That switch is reserved for installing an encryption agent in our Server OS mode to protect Windows Servers.

If you look in your \HKLM\Software\Credant\CMGShield location what is the value for your SM key on your clients?

Also if you have your install log from the system you deployed prior to making this post can I get your to Private Message me your e-mail address?  I will then setup a OneDrive for Business share to upload it to for me to review and see what might be triggering the 199 address from getting put into your server values.

Thanks!
