use a different NIC on DDVE

Hi hope some one can help.

We are trying to clone our yearly backups to a new Data Domain Virtual Edition. i have two NICs configured on the DDVE, on for management (veth0) and the second (veth1), on our 10G network for data transfer.

I can clone the save sets from the old DD to the DDVE. However I noticed that the traffic is going via the management interface on both the DD and the DDVE.

Is it possible to get the clone traffic to use the 10g network (veth1 on the DDVE)? Both DDVE and the DD have NICs on the 10G network?

Thanks in advance

cloning as in clone controlled replication via Dell Networker? Assuming that DDVE management and backup/clone network interface are on different subnets/networks, with what fqdn/IP is the DDVE configured in your backup product?

If it is with NW, then what we tend to do is also control between both involved DD's by setting in each others host entries each others hostname using the name as configured in NW.

So if within NW

- DD is called dd01.xxx.yyy with ip a.b.c.d and referred to that name for all of its the ddboost devices
- DDVE is called ddve01.aaa.bbb with ip f.g.h.i and referred to that name for all of its the ddboost devices

Then on dd01 you'd put into the net hosts list an entry for ddve01 with its IP f.g.h.i with the short name of ddve01 and the name as defined on the NW server, so ddve01.aaa.bbb

f.g.h.i ddve01.aaa.bbb ddve01

On ddve01 net host an entry is added for dd01:

a.b.c.d dd01.xxx.yyy dd01

That way the DD's know which interface to use to perform the CCR cloning instead of possibly using the management or any other interface.

Also something we missed years ago when first implementing DD and cloning as the cloning was actually working, except that it was using the 1Gb management interface instead of a dedicated 10Gb connection, so the same as what you see...

But I can only talk about experience with Networker...
