IDPA VS. DataDomain
I have been tasked with composing a briefing regarding the EMC storage lines of products; the most important ones are those for data backup. What are the main differences between the IDPA and the DD line? Also, what OS does IDPA run? I can't seemingly find that info anywhere. Thanks for the help, guys.

FWIW, the iDPA configurations that I have worked on all included a Data Domain as a "lower assembly". So relative to that, the iDPA would provide all of its respective features, including the Data Domain associated ones, whereas of course, the Data Domain alone would only provide its own features.

Data Domain is the deduplication storage. IDPA includes Avamar and Data Domain. Avamar performs the backups and stores them on the Data Domain. This can be accomplished separately from an IDPA, with a standalone Avamar and Data Domain, however IDPA integrates them out of the box. IDPA also includes other components for managing backups and the IDPA itself: Data Protection Search, Data Protection Advisor, and Data Protection Central.
IDPA components run SuSE Enterprise Linux 12. Keep in mind, you will not interact with the OS at all on the Data Domain.
