ECS in DD Cloud Tier as a Cloud Unit

In order to integrate ECS in DD Cloud Tier as a Cloud Unit . DELLEMC Guide mentions below requirements from ECS Appliance.

The provider Access key and Secret key.

The provider endpoint IP/hostname

To create a cloud unit for EMC Elastic Cloud Storage:

Navigate to Data Management > File System > Cloud Units.

Click Add.

In the Add Cloud Unit screen, enter a name for the cloud unit.

For Cloud provider, select EMC Elastic Cloud Storage (ECS).

Supply the provider Access key and Secret key.

Enter the provider endpoint with this format: http:// : . If using a secure endpoint, use HTTPS instead.

If an HTTP proxy server is required to get around a firewall, click Configure for HTTP Proxy Server.

Click Add.

I'm curious to know what the  endpoint IP/hostname of provider from ECS is ,  is this the management IP or data IP?

Also if anyone can share some info on how what the provider Access key and Secret key / how do we create it on a ECS that is needed for DD Cloud unit creation .

The IP address you'll use will be the data IP of the ECS cluster.  Depending on how you've configured ECS, you might have a loadbalancer hostname or an internal DNS alias that resolves all of the data IPs of the ECS to a single hostname/IP (i.e., myecs.mycorp.com resolving to the data IPs 10.10.10.1, 10.10.10.2, 10.10.10.3, etc.).  In this case, you would use http://myecs.mycorp.com in the Cloud Provider field you state above.

For ECS S3 authentication, the Access key is the user name, which I highlight in red.  The Secret key is the generated password which I highlight in blue.

To create these details, you will first need to create a namespace.  If you wish to have further granularity, you can create a bucket to subdivide your namespace.  The final step is to create a user and set that user to use a default namespace. To create your user, select Manage in the left window of the ECS UI and go to Users.

Under Users, you can create a New Object User (access key), an account which used to authenticate to ECS for data services.

In your new account, click Generate & Add Password to create a password (secret key) for this account.  It will populate into the S3 field above it.

You will now have the details I highlighted in blue and red in my first screenshot.

You can find more details in the ECS documentation from EMC or in the online help.

Let us know if that helps!

Thanks Karl , above information is indeed very helpful to get a start on understating some basics  . Will refer ECS  Admin Guide for further review .
