DDOS Upgrade - 7.2 to 7.7
We currently run a DD6900 with DDOS 7.2 installed. Can we upgrade right to DDOS 7.7? Or is there a path to follow?
We also replicate mtree data from the main 6900 to a remote 6900 which is also running DDOS 7.2.
Can you upgrade the main 6900 and then the remote 6900 when time permits? Or will replication begin failing? What would be the correct order if both need to me upgraded,
Is there anything needed to upgrade ddboost? Or will the main 7.2 to 7.7 take care of this?
Thanks!

most of this is actually clearly described and stated in the available DD documentation.
https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-us/dd-os-7.7/dd-7.7_rn_new_template/preparing-to-update-to-ddos-7.7?guid=guid-30ddfcad-7b79-458a-9f27-bcf417c164b5&lang=en-us
"Update to 7.7.2.0 using the UI is only possible from the following releases: 6.0.2.70, 6.1.2.70, 6.2.1.x, 7.0.0.20, 7.1.0.20, 7.2.x, 7.3.x, 7.4.x, 7.5.x, and 7.6.x. Other releases must download the corresponding MDU bundle from the http://www.dell.com/support site before upgrading to 7.7.2.0 in one hop, and follow the update instructions as described in Updating to DDOS version 7.7.2.0."
https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-us/dd-os-7.7/dd_p_ddos_7.7_ag/replication-version-compatibility?guid=guid-9d012d78-c2db-411c-851b-ff415015887d&lang=en-us states the supported replication versions between source and target in "Table 1. Compatibility configurations supported across replication topologies" for the various replication methods. In general running a higher version on the source supports more replication methods if the target is lower, than the other way around (only supports MTree replication and MFR).
ddboost is the protocol offered by DDOS, however depending on how you use it, you'd have to update the backup software on the systems actually using the dd to write to.
What backup product do you actually use? Networker, Avamar, PPDM? Or a 3rd party product?
You'd have to check the respective backup product wrg to which ddboost library version they have and what range of DDOS versions those support, to see if there might be an impact when updating ddos7.2 to 7.7?
