Inspiron 15 3515, faulty hinge, out of warranty
I have two Dell Inspiron 15 3515 Laptops. Both were bought on the same day and warranty expired on the same day.
Both were becoming difficult to open and close the lid but I thought nothing of it. warranty expired on September 30 and now the lids will not open at all. The same hinge on both laptops is faulty.
I thought it would be a good idea to search the web for known faults and low and behold, I find that this is known by Dell and everyone has been told the same thing. No warranty, no fix. This is until I read a recent post from April. I noticed that a poster managed to get his laptop partial replacement.
still under warranty, you are not. DELL-Admin>
I am hopeful that this will reach Dell as I believe they will know the issues that I am facing with this damaged hinge. I have attached a link to the Community Post that I believe is the same issue that I and many others are experiencing.
I work for as an MSP and we use Dell a lot and normally the quality is extremely good. But reading the issues others are experiencing, it definitely has us asking questions about moving to a different provider.

I'm in exactly the same situation. Four weeks out of warranty and the left hand hinge suddenly siezed on opening the lid, pulling away the trim and causing the screen above the hinge to go black.
