Switch connection problem

Hi,

I have connected servers to a San network with Brocade
switch after adding SFP, the ports on the new SFP display
U (U-PORT) instead of F (F-PORT).
I have been told that U means "nothing connected" whereas
everything is connected and F (F-PORT) means Fabric capable.
How can I set the switch to "switch" from U to F ?

Thanks

Hi Consty,

Firstly we need to check the led status on the HBA (server) and on the switch. Make sure that it shows green and with required LED for speed. Hope we are not having a failed port on the switch.
If above is ok then have port config check with this command
'portcfgshow ' (substitute port number for ), hopefully it shud not be locked.

Also you can try a port disable/enable with this command portcfgdisable and protcfgenable

Please let me know if this help or the output of above commands to see if something can be done further.

Rgds,
Vivek

Hi,

The led status was not good, I enabled then disabled the ports
and it did not change, finally I removed and configured the hba
devices at Unix (AIX) level (rmdev -dl fscs* then cfgmgr) and
the led status became normal.

Now I have another problem, the LUNZ hdisks presence, i do not
know how to remove them.

Thanks a lot
Consty
