problem with discovery of cisco 9124 in to ECC

Hi,

We are running ECC6.0.There are new 9124 switches in our environment.

I have tried discovering them through ECC,but giving some error as:

Device name IP of switch could not be found using SNMP.Possible reasons for failure are:

Network failure
device is off
device may be running an old firmware version
SNMP may not be enabled on the device
Specified address may be that of an unsupported device.

Do you want to discover by other means - yes/no

I tried clicking yes.

Again it is giving error as:

Setup command failedCouldnt establish session with switch.Possible N/w issue or wrong IP address.

Can anybody please let me know, how to reslove this issue.

Thanks,
Bannu.

Please check your LAN cable connected to switch is working.

Hello,

I am by no means an Control Center (ECC) expert but I can offer a few suggestions. First, I would check the ECC support matrix to ensure that the SAN-OS you are using and the configuration are supported. Next I would see if I could manage the switch from the same ECC host that has the FCC agent on it via Device Manager (this will help to see if a firewall is possilbly blocking access). Lastly, I would try turning off all software on the host running the FCC agent especially antivirus or firewalls and see if it works then.

It is also possible the switch could be configured to block SNMP access or Access Control lists but if ECC is discovering your other MDS switches, and they are similarly configured, that is not as likely.

If you still have problems, I'd recommend posting to the Control Center area of the boards or opening a support case with EMC.

Thank you.

Hi,

I would make sure that SNMP communities exist on the switch. Cisco switches need to have an SNMP community with read-write access to be managed using ECC. Usually you have two snmp communities on cisco switches public with read only and private with read-write access.

While discovering the switch in ECC you need to specify the SNMP community you want to use for the discovery.

don't know if you resove your problem.

so enable snmp with fabric manager right panel (physical attributes -> security ->users and roles, communities tab .
