POWERING DOWN AND POWRING UP OF CISCO MDS 9506 SWITCH

Hello every One!

Can some one walk me through the steps to powering  Down and Powering Up of the CISCO MDS (FC SWITCH) 9506 switch?

Also, it would be of help if some one can help me with a link / doc which  has the steps to do the powering down and powering up of the switch.

This is basically for the power maintenance outage for this week end.I need to make sure i have all the steps handy.moreover , i am doing it for the first time.

What would be the CLI command i need to execute for this to take effect?

Very much appreciate if some one who has done this before can explain me this.

Thanks a lot for reading!

there is no "power off" command on MDS. What you will need to do is to login to the switch and verify that all systems have been shutdown and nothing it still logged-in to the switch:

sh flogi database

after that simply flip the power breakers on the power supply on the back of the unit.  Same breakers will need to be turned back on

Do you use MDS9506 only as FC switch ?

Are there any service based on Cisco intelligent fabric service such as RecoverPoint or Invista working with SSM ?

If not, MDS9509 is also one of SAN switches that you can handle it as same way with others.

But if you have any intelligent service, you must follow their specific procedure before powering off the MDS9509.
