MDS 9706 - proactive reboot

Hi

We are preparing for MDS 9706  upgrade and we want to do a proactive reboot, as the uptime is over 450 days.

Could you help me to build the action plan for that, please?

  1. Review the path status via PowerPath to confirm redundancy.
  2. Check flogi database / port status.
  3. Save the running config by running the following command:  copy running-config startup-config
  4. Reboot the switch by running the command: reload
  5. Wait till switch fully boots, then check the switch / path status
  6. Follow the same procedure on second switch.

Thanks

Onsik

Hi,

There's also a KB on how to power down a Cisco MDS switch https://support.emc.com/kb/501590.

Thanks and rgds,

Jim.

take the switch backup to outside or an external TFTP server as well before the reboot.
