Help with an old EMC DS-16B2

Hello,

I am a college student and I ordered an old EMC DS-16B2 fiber channel switch on ebay.   I have two old HP G3 DL380s and I'm studing vmware at home.  I wanted to learn more about fiber channel, so I ordered this switch.  Once I finally found the right serial cable to bring up the console; I realized that they didn't reset the passwords.   So, at the moment I can't log in.  I have tried admin / password and root / password.  The switch is currently running FabricOS 3.1.3.  I found a document on the net talking about having to get a special Password Recovery Firmware from the vendor to reset the passwords.  I was hoping someone on the forums had an idea how I can get into this switch?

Thanks for the help,

I tried the user names and passwords you posted and they didn't work.  I'm guessing that all of the defaults passwords were changed for security reasons.  I also tried the information in the HP forum link you provided and that didn't help.  When the switch powers up there is a 4 second time period when I can hit esc.   I don't get a menu to boot into a shell prompt.  The switch boots directly into a VxWorks Boot prompt.  I tried using the passwddefault command, but that was an unknown command.   It looks like this VXworks Boot shell is used for updating the firmare,  I didn't see any options to change the passwords or reset everything to default options.

can you contact the re-seller for switch credentials ?

I will contact the reseller on eBay and see if they have the passwords to log into the switch.  I have a funny feeling that they don't have this information.  But its worth a shot.  I'll send them an e-mail when I get home from work.
