HBA setup,

Hi folks,

If i've got two HBA double ports on my server.  Should i use both cards port A for disk and port B for tapes ? or should i dedicate a HBA for disk and one HBA for tapes.... And having a single point of failure on the server........

People says not to mix the trafic on the HBA. I understand for single port HBA but what about double and quadruple ports HBA......

Somes manufacturers says "no problem" has long has you dont exceed the limits of the port. That i accept.

So is there a geek / wiz that can provide me with a real answer.

Thanks

use port 1 on HBA1 and port 1 on HBA2 for disk,  use port 2 on HBA1 (or 2) for tape.  As long as you are not mixing tape/disk on the same port, you are fine.
