Connect McData Eclipse 1620 to Brocade DCX Virtual Fabric

Hello All

Bit of a long shot.

We have some new Brocade DCX Directors which will be replacing McData ED-140M and Eclipse 1620.

As part of our migration, we need to connect 1 port from a 1620 into a Virtual Fabric on a DCX.

The 1620 will be set as an R-Port, with the Append Zone option set.

The DCX Virtual Fabric, will have 2 RA ports from DMX/VMAX and the R-Port

The other port on the 1620 will have a DMX RA Port.

We need to be able to zone the VMAX RA in the DCX Virtual Fabric to the DMX RA on the 1620, as well as a zone for the VMAX RA to DMX RA in the DCX Virtual Fabric.

There is Zoning in place on the 1620 already, for the existing RA to another RA at the other end of the IP link (to another 1620).

I can plug it all in, and the switches appear to merge OK.

I can see the 1620 show up in switchshow on the DCX side (as well as topologyshow and fabricshow)

I can also import the VMAX and DMX RAs that are in the DCX Virtual Fabric onto the 1620.

When I try to Zone on the DCX side, I just get a Fabric Busy error, or an error about Zone Merge.

Something is obivously not correct somewhere.

I don't know if it's because the 1620 just can't quite handle Virtual Fabric correctly.

The 1620 is on E/OSi 5.3 Enterprise

the DCX is FoS 6.3.1a

any ideas?

thanks

Grant
