Cisco MDS-9718 Connected to different phase power feed

Hi All,

The power distribution boards are not an issue because we already have two, Orange and Grey supplied from separate data centre feeds. These will each feed the Cisco MDS-9718 grid A or B.

These power boards are 3 phase WYE 415VAC and are separated out for single phase 240V/32A for connection to MDS Power Supply use as 1 phase plus the neutral.

Currently we have 3 single phase 240V/32A on each power grid (total of 6 PS) using White Phase (L2) that powers the currently installed 9710.

When we de-install the 9710 and install the 9718 we will need an additional 6 single phase 240V/32A (total of 12 PS).

To achieve the additional 6 , the electrician was proposing to use another phase, Blue L3,  because of the load restriction he cannot add anymore on white Phase (L2) .

The question is - the electrician wants to confirm if the 9718 power supplies are independent of each other and electrically segregated?

Proposed Power Input for the 9718.

Hi Hermie,

I could not find a spec sheet that describes the physical architecture you need for the DS-CAC97-3KW PS to answer this question. For expedience, I'd open an SR with the Connectrix support team who can escalate to Cisco if needed.

Regards,
Sam

From TSE - Connectivity Support

I have an update from Cisco Hardware Engineering team.

Connection of multiple phases from same 3 phase source is supported i.e using different legs of a 3-phase power source is ok.

Direct connection of 3 phase is not supported.
