CIF SHARE setup
Hi
I have a VNX5300 system and am creating CIF servers. I have also created the CIF share but I am not able to view the server from Windows environment. How do i setup security permissions etc?

Did the CIFS server successfully join the domain? Make sure you are logged in as a domain admin to the machine from which you are using Computer Management.

It has joined the domain. The only worry is interface name is different. Also, I deleted the accouont in windows and recreated it.

On a computer that's joined to the domain, right-click on my computer and select manage. Right-click on "Computer Management (Local)" and select connect to another computer. Enter the CIFS server's IP/name and you will be able to set share permissions from there.

When you say "I am not able to view the server from Windows environment" do you mean that you cannot connect to the CIFS server at all? Not through Computer Management nor by \\cifs-server?

It successfully joined the domain.

Correct either way. When I tried to connect using UNC path, it is asking for Windows username and password but will not connect at all.

Did you try unjoining and rejoining the CIFS to the domain?
