Certify SAN-OS update

We are getting ready to add some new blades into our Cisco MDS 9513 cabinet (Ficon/IP blades) which are going to require us to upgrade from our current firmware level.

I've done some digging through the release notes for the new code level - but am not sure how to "certify" the various OS levels against this new code level on the MDS switches.

We've used HEAT reports for code updates on our storage arrays, but never had to consider this for the Cisco MDS arrays.

Anyone have any suggestions on how they've handled this or is this something that does not raise as much concern as array updates?

Any suggestions other than trying to use eLab Navigator for each reasonable variation of hardware/software?

when i prepare for FOS/SAN-OS upgrades i mainly verify switch to switch comparability as i have multi-vendor fabric. Host and storage connectivity has never been an issue but i have been bitten by "new" options that had to be enabled for multi vendor connectivity.

Hi,

I am doing now code upgrade .. I also had the same questions before I choose level

1) I went through release notes (old ver -->> new ver)

2) confirmed that it is non-distructive upgrade

3) verify new release cause to block any existing feature (performance monitor, dial home emc alart etc etc )

4) log case with EMC to verify existing confgif you want..

5) verify you have 2 sup card which helps you non-distructive upgrade.
