SCV2020 Management

I have a SCV2020 with no data on it, i have just configured it. once it was configured it opened up the management gui.

i rebooted the system but can no longer get to the gui.

if i type in the ip address it says

"To manage this system, you must download Enterprise Manager Client.

Management applications can be downloaded from: http://www.dell.com/support"

Which is fine but why do i need the above if it already allowed me in, in the first place?

Hello @tapelibraryfixer,

Yes, myself I have seen this GUI when starting the configuration on SCV2020. This is a one time tool to configure the initial steps because later you can do all this tasks (and more advanced ones) with Storage Manager. Please check the installation guide for Storage Manager: https://dell.to/3OSIY3L

Regards.

For updating SCOS (StorageCenterOS) you need to configure the support assist feature and send at least one report to Dell. Hint: It takes up to 24h until they see it. otherwise you can enable the SecureConsole(VPN) and the support will create a fresh report.

After that you have to contact Dell support and they will

  1. performing the pre- checks
  2. Activate the download so that you can apply it trough the Dell Storage Manager GUI by downloading it from the internet directly onto the SAN
  3. performing the post- checks

Regards,
Joerg
