Dell Compellent Enterprise Plus VS Enterprise Value How to tell a difference?

How can I tell if a Dell drive Compellent is an enterprise plus or enterprise value version?

Also is there a way to differentiate between a Dell Compellent drive and an EqualLogic drive with the same part numbers?

Is there a firmware that I should look in to differentiate?

Hello thanks for choosing Dell.

"Also is there a way to differentiate between a Dell Compellent drive and an EqualLogic drive with the same part numbers?"

"Is there a firmware that I should look in to differentiate?"

What we could do is, if you could give us the part numbers we will tell you whether you can use them or not. Please note that there are some dated parts left as Equallogic is EOS.

Wish you a great one.

@DellEMCSupport You mean you can tell me based on the part number if it is a Compellent drive or an EqualLogic drive? Aren't some HDDs the same part numbers but have different firmware for Compellent and EqualLogic?

How can I give you the part number?

Also is there any difference between;

1. Enterprise Plus and Enterprise Value?

2. Regular Compellent and Drive line Enterprise Plus?

Any help will highly be appreciated!

M-Abbas,

You are correct, in the fact that it isn't dictated by part tnumber, but instead by firmware. Meaning if a drive part number is supported by both devices (EQL and Compellent) you would not be able to determine which it is for without knowing the firmware it has. Now I am not sure if there are drives that are supported in both, without referencing specific systems, but if there are then it is firmware specific.

As far as the Enterprise Plus and Value question, I don't have specific knowledge of it, but I believe that enterprise plus drives have a better mean time between failure.

Let me know if this helps.

@M-Abbas

Not sure if you found a better solution but i figured i would throw my 2 cents in. I have a working theory and some one can correct me if i am wrong. My theory is that the labeling scheme follows this pattern...

Spool HDD >> can be enterprise drive << upgraded drive vs consumer drive

Spool HDD >> can be enterprise PLUS drive  << probably means its upgraded drive, less prone to failures / data center use

SSD >> enterprisevalue  << upgraded SSD drive for data centers

for reference i currently have 2 drives here. Same model and same PN.

SSD

PN: 0B32212

model: HUSMR1619ASS200

DPN: Y2M2R

both have: "Dell Enterprise Plus" on the label

Drive 1 has firmware: F154 << comes up as EnterprisePlus

Drive 2 has firmware: F155 << comes up as enterprisevalue

F155 firmware from what i can tell is newer firmware.

so if i were to guess, SSD's were labeled enterprisePlus because they were for data center's and then newer firmware came out with the "more correct"? naming of the drive. Like i said though this is just my theory. Please feel free to correct me if i am mistaken.
