Should we assign different SP to LUNs in the same RAID Group?
Hi,
We create two LUNs in a RAID Group (RAID 5) with 9 FC HD.
Now both LUNs are assigned to SPA. Is there any advantage if they are assigned to different SP ?
Thanks

Hi Tony,
In this case the load will be on single SP and other SP will be idle.So its better to have the LUNS equally distributed so that both the SPs share the load and no issues are faced as both of the SP's will be equally utilized .
Thanks

if we are talking about Clariions then for SATA drives recommendation was to keep LUNs from the same RG on the same SP.

yes, alternate SPs for FC LUNs. Back in the days SATA drives were not dual-ported so it was recommended to put all LUNs from one RG on the same SP.

Dear Dynamox,
As we are using FC HD, it means that it is desirable to use different SP ?
Is there any reason why we should use the same SP for SATA ?
Thanks again
