multi pathing with EMC
Hi
I have some clariion LUNs attached to a few Solaris 10 x86 machines with multipathing through powerpath but the multipathing does not seem to be working . Below is the powermt output from one of the servers There was activity at the SAN side recently where the LUNs should have been available through one path but the LUN simply became unavailable and the filesystem got unmounted Any insight is appreciated
# powermt display dev=all
Pseudo name=emcpower2a
CLARiiON ID=APM00114201082
Logical device ID=600601605FE02C002C6011A9BEA3E111 [LUN 17]
state=alive; policy=BasicFailover; priority=0; queued-IOs=0;
Owner: default=SP B, current=SP A Array failover mode: 4

Unlicensed PowerPath will only protect agains SP failure on single HBA. It does not protect against HBA /switch/cable failures on more than 1 path.

Thanks for the response I had doubts on the licensing as well So any output of powermt display showing one of the paths as unlicensed is not in multipathing. Can we manually switch over the active path used by the LUN to the second HBA?

i don't think so, i think it always grabs the lowest number HBAs and the other one remains "unlic" until you install the key.
