CX30 keeps reporting failed disk
Hi,
I have a cx30 array that keeps informing we a disk is down, so I replace the disk and it flashes green for 10 seconds then the orange light comes back on on the disk. I've tried 3 brand new disks now so I'm pretty sure it's not the disk.
Any ideas what I can check?

Hi Eran
Please bear with me I'm new to emc, how can I check if the firmware is compatible? It's using the hot spare at the moment so I don't think I want to move it?

No worries. I was asking about the EMC Event Logs.

Hi Troy,
Please bear with me I'm new to emc, are you referring to the Windows event logs of EMC event logs?

How many hot spare drives do you have there at the moment that are the same as the one that failed?
if you only got one clearly dont do that but if you have more you can do that on the one that is not being used. as for the drive firmware you can only see once the system load it. I would check also on EMC compatibility list to see if the HD part number that you are using is the correct one (unless you are swapping the same).

Hi
I've only got one hot spare in there unfortunately. OK I'll find the compatibility list and check that.

you need to check that the firmware on the disk is compatible with your system flare code.
Try to put the drive instead of a hot spare if you can and see what happen. also if you put one of your hot spare disks in the DAE where the faulty disk is what is happening?

This is the event log after I pulled the disk and reseated. I only removed the disk once, and left it in.

I would recommend finding the TLA #s of other disks in that RAID Group. Hopefully you have one in your inventory that matches.
