CX3-40f + KTN-STL4 stuck in boot "0x0000018F"

Hello Community,

a customer of ours found 2 old DAE (KTN-STL4) and we have to get them work.
so we bought an old SPE (CX3-40F) with all needed cable, and HBA.
All link leds looks fine,so nothing wrong with the cable, but the SPE stuckin boot.

No connection with LAN or PPP possible, so we used Hyperterminal with serial Connection.

In the Postscreen we found this Error:

ErrorCode: 0x0000018F

ErrorDesc:

FRU: All System FRUs

Device: BOOT PATH

Description: Data Directory Boot Service Not Loaded Error!

ON the CX3-40, the first 5 disks in the DPE (Disk Processor Enclosure) that hold the SP are the Flare OS disks. These generally have a special label on the disks indicating that these are the FLARE/Vault disks. This is where the Storage Processor boots from. If these are not the OS disks, then the Storage Processor will not boot - that is the message that you're seeing. In order to get the disks to boot you would have to re-image the Vault drives. Usually the 5th disk would contain the image that you could use to restore from. If that 5th disks is not one of the original OS disks, then you'd need to get a Vault pack from EMC ( it would be five disks with the OS pre-installed from the factory).

Hello Glen,

thank you for your reply,in my case, there is no special label on the HDDs.(300GB 15K 2/4GB)

Do i need the five HDDs, or is it possible to get the IMAGE file to flash the image with Serial Connection to the Hard-Disks?

I think there was a way to re-image the vault drives on the CX3-series, but I'm not 100% sure - have not done that for many years. If you're a Partner, contact your local account manager.

HI Glen,

Thx for your help, both DAE weren't enclosure #0, so there wasn't any Drive setup with the FLARE OS.

Thats the end for the Hardware .
