Dell Chromebook 3100 Storage Management
Over the course of three years we've purchased Dell 3100s. All of the first two model years (now out of warranty) are reporting 8GB of total storage when we purchased them with 16GB. I never checked to confirm specs when I received them so I can't confirm if it has always been this way or not.
The current model we purchased with 32GB and they are reporting 32GB total in storage management.

I just ran into this today. We bought about 1,400 Dell 3100 with 16gb ssd, and only reporting 8gb. Spoke with a Dell support person via chat and said Engineers are aware and its a Chrome OS / hardware issue and are working on it... but just found another post from June with the same issue so its been several months now and no resolution I guess?

Glad to know I'm not crazy. Did they give you any ticket to reference or anything?
I was told by Dell support that it is a visual thing only and doesn't have an impact on operations. That's not true. If I download a 1GB file to Downloads the balance of available to used changes by 1GB.
I am unable to use that model to create a recovery USB Drive because it runs out of space.

I'm on the IT staff and I see the same thing on our school's 3100s (mfg year 2021), even after a powerwash. We also have some 3100 touch screen Chromebooks that are not having the issue.
