Does restore also restore EBR and LH information?

Hi all

Recently during a migration the question has come up if the restore process does also transfer any event based retention and litigation hold information. Does anyone know if that is the case?

As EMC Partner we unfortunately have to base our services on the functionality available to the admin and are not able to use C2C or CICM unless that becomes available in future code releases.

Thanks a lot, Holger

Hi Holger,

With the introduction of mutable metadata in Grimbergen (of which EBR and Litigation Hold are specific cases), the clip copy transaction was extended to allow the mutable metadata of the clip to be restored together with the clip.

EBR and Litigation Hold bring additional constraints on the clip copy transaction:
1.    the target cluster must have the Advanced Retention feature enabled. This is checked by processing the pool info for the target cluster, it contains the necessary information to know whether EBR and Litigation Hold are supported.
2.    the profile used by the clip copy transaction to restore clips must have the litigation hold capability enabled
If either of these conditions is not met, restore will pause automatically and will raise an alert.

Hope this is of help to you,

Regards

Ronan Buckley
