Competitive Product of Centera

Hi there,

Is there any competitive product from other storage vendors like NetApp, IBM, Hitachi for Centera?

Can we virtualise Centerra using virtualisation products like IBM SVC, VFILER OR VPLEX?

Hi Abhi,

I believe that there are very few products out there in the market which can compete with Centera. If you are looking for Archival solution where data can be stored as Clips and Blobs without the use of any File system(CIFS,NFS,etc..) then Centera is the best and is also backed by a good Customer Support process.

I believe that Hitachi had one product for data archival, but I think is no longer available.

Hi ,

Hitachi has its own content archive methods (Hitachi content platform (HCP))

But i prefer centera as you can have many ways of provision with your application as like

CUA for NFS/CIFS ..etc
CFA /FMA using which you can even archive your nas (EMC /Netapp) to centera
You can have centera virtual access as well

Addition to all the above ,EMC has its own well defined and excellent support and guidance for all your needs on Content Archive Storage (CAS) !!!
