centeraping and jcenteraverify work, but not with pea file

client (Symantec Enterprise Vault) on a two location centera cluster, both locations 1+2 and all nodes within the clusters 1+2 are reachable over tcp/upd port 3218 (Firewall ports are open-  both ways). the software needs the ability to scan the centera partition on location 1 and on the replication on location 2.

centeraping and jcenteraverify are responding (...available), but when I change it to use the .pea file, I got the error

Status: FP_SOCKET_ERR (-10101)

Reason: Error on network socket (transid='Servername/13958/POOLINFO')

or

"EMC Centera not found at pool address".

EMC support said something like" it's a network error". I'm buffled.

any suggestions ?
