Cannot access one of the Centera Access Nodes.

Hello Everyone,

I have a 16 node centera with 2 access nodes on it. I can ping one of access nodes, but i cannot ping the other one. I logged on to centera through Centera CLI and checked out the status, and its show up and on. But I still cannot ping the one of the access nodes. Any idea what I need to do.

Thank You

Rama

Hello Rama,

Are you using Centera ping? However You may check the following:

  • First check if the cables are connected properly to the node,
  • Ensure the Lan cable is blinking,
  • Check if the node is online from Centera Viewer (Can be logged in as admin).
  • You can also create a service Request with EMC Centera Support to troubleshoot it further.

Cheers,

Hello Phukon,

thanks for getting back on me. Yep I checked it with centera ping. It gave centera node access error with code error 102202, I dont remember the exact error code number. And yes when I log on to centera viewer, I can see the access node "on", and I checked the physical connection doesn't look anything wrong on it. But anyways I opened up a SR with EMC, will get in touch with tomorrow morning to resolve the issue.

Thank You

Rama

Hello Rama,

I have identified few more options:

  • You can also check the security status of the node, (if the node is locked) use the command in the CV CLI

                                                set security unlock all

                                          or   set security unlock

  • May be the file ApplicationProfileManager.cml located in the filepool directory could be corrupted, it is fixed by support only by copying the file from a healthy node

Good Luck,

Well got the problem, why I was having problems, as one of the access nodes was clocked on to 100 Mbps and other access node was on 1000 Mbps. And the access node with 100Mbps, which I could ping or access it had a NIC card failure. I had to call EMC CE to come and replace the node. And right now I can access both the nodes fine.

Well thank you every one for all the valuable information. Gained a lot of knowledge on Centera because of this issues.

Thank You

Rama
