CMOS battery error

Hi,

We have a M640 blade wich is reporting CMOS battery fault. We have changed it but the alarm is still present. I saw a procedure to clear CMOS battery on iDRAC8 but I am unable to find that option on iDRAC9. Is that option removed? Should be cleared automatically or I have to reset iDRAC maybe?

I suspect is a hardware faulty but I need to exhaust all options.

hello @jtejada.ralco if you replaced the battery and tried to power cycle the server, you may need to replace the system board, if you have any of the spare servers In Chaissis you can check it.

Hello,

I have a few troubleshooting steps to try and check results after each one:

*Reseat battery

Check socket for damage, plastic housing and solder connections

*Try another battery

*Make sure iDRAC and BIOS firmware is up to date

*Reboot DRAC

How to Reset the Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller (iDRAC)

*Drain flea power

drain flea power (shut down, disconnect power cables and Network cables, hold in power button 20 seconds with cords removed). After flea power drain, system has to set for 3 minutes for DRAC to reset without any power plugged in, then plug in NIC and power but wait 2 minutes before power on to give DRAC time to initialize.
