Configure Separate Network For Replication

Question

I am wanting to configure replication on my Gen4S Avamar grid using a separate network so that I can route traffic appropriately. According to the documentation I can use NICs 5-8 for this purpose so I figured I'd use NIC 5 for the 2.2.2.x replication network.

For the sake of this example here is the configuration:

HomeOfficeGrid: IP 1.1.1.1 (backups and replication)

DRGrid: IP 1.1.1.2

Propose adding

HomeOfficeGrid_Repl: IP 2.2.2.1

DRGrid_Repl: IP 2.2.2.2

Replication is configured between HomeOfficeGrid and /REPLICATE/DRGrid

A couple of questions have come up while working on this:

1. Can I as a customer use dpnnetutil to configure the IP addressing on these NICs or do I have to have someone from EMC do this configuration? If so how do I run dpnnetutil?

2. What I would like is to configure replication between HomeOfficeGrid_Repl and /REPLICATE/DRGrid_Repl. Is this possible?

Professional services has a procedure available for configuring dedicated replication, additional VLANs, etc. post-install. Unfortunately dpnnetutil can only be used for initial configuration (despite the misleading message it leaves in some of the configuration files).
Once the networking has been reconfigured, routes have been set up and probe.xml has been updated and reloaded, changing the replication target address from 1.1.1.2 to 2.2.2.2 will route replication traffic across the replication network. The exact procedure to make this change depends on the Avamar server software version.

Yes, dpnnetutil is a misleadingly powerful tool, used the wrong way it can cause major issues on the grid.
