It's not related to permissions .. the fix is EMC has a BUG in the new code version if we have log directory in the same MB folder avamar cant backup the DAG's. If you need to backup the passive databases you will need to manually backup each server at a time.

Morning Bonnu06,
At first glance it looks like there is an initial issue with the VSS writer (avexvss) possibly hooking in with the VSS COM APIs. I’ve seen this error with SQL, on the restore side, and the fix was to reconfigure the restore based on how the environment was setup. In essence, changing the recovery model on the database and matching that recovery model in Avamar when doing the restore. I’d be curious to see if we can apply similar logic in this case. Can you provide the settings of the on demand backup, with a screen shot if possible? What version of Avamar are you running?
I’m also aware of the fatal exceptions before the error, regarding possible access violation or permissions. There is documentation in PowerLink addressing that exception. However, let’s explore the error in the log first.

Can you try to trim down the options to something like the screen shot? Then test the backup?
Also just for reference, I use the 6.1 Exchange VSS Guide:
https://support.emc.com/docu39182_Avamar_6.1_for_Exchange_Server_VSS_User_Guide.pdf?language=en_US

Was this ever resolved?

Access Violation sticks out in the error. I would verify permissions of the user that installed the clients.

Alexis / Bonnu06,
Thanks for the update. Is the bug fix included in SP1 or is it an out-of-bound patch?
Thanks,
