Avamar 19.7/19.8 File Level Restores fail after Avamar is upgraded from 19.4

Hi Dell Community,

I was reading the article mentioned in the subject... and I have a question. Will backups with the new version 19.7/19.8 have the same issue when selecting file restore? or it only apply for the backups with the version 19.4?

Hello ititech,

The problem isn't with what version took the backup, the problem lies with a change that was made in 19.7. This is to do with a upgrade defect in relation to a password of the restoreonly user.

In order for the backups to show correctly in the restore menu, the restoreonly password on the Avamar server and the proxies need to match. The KB you mentioned has the instructions to resolve this.

Hi Strohs,

Thanks for your reply. My concern arose reading the first sentence:
"Symptoms
File level restore does not work after upgrading Avamar Avamar proxy server and Avamar server to 19.7."

We are currently testing restores with version 19.4 and I am not sure about upgrading to 19.7 for that reason. Fortunately, there is a workaround.
