x17 R2, running super hot since AWCC upgrade, result mobo blown

My x17 R2 always ran warm (as do all Alienware laptops it seems) but since the upgrade to the new version of Alienware Command Centre it was running really hot. It kept shutting down as a result. Then I go to turn it on one morning and ... nothing.

Diagnosis is blown mobo.

Anyone else running super hot since the updgrage to AWCC?
