Support for Alienware m15 R6 Diagnostic-light LED code 2 red and 8 blue = Display failure - EC detection of power rail failure (of the motherboard's power supply unit). The fix is replacement of the system board (aka motherboard). If under Dell warranty, replacement and installation will be undertaken for you. If not under Dell warranty, you might wait to see if the 2,8 diagnostic is real and then decide what to do.

Hello, I am having this issue too but slightly different with the lights (7 blinks for blue and 2 for red). I was playing normally when suddenly my screen turned black without backlight, thinking that the issue is with the LCD, now I am connecting my laptop to an hdmi monitor display when using it and it's working fine, but knowing that this might be an indication of motherboard issue, should I get my laptop fixed immediately? Or I can still use it with a display monitor in the meantime? I'm worried that it might get worse.
